another Christopher post

I was going through old pictures yesterday and came across this (almost) three-year old one of Christopher, my sons, and I. My how they’ve all grown.

my nephew is Teufelhunden (Devil Dog)

A bit over 12 weeks ago, my beloved nephew and namesake, Christopher Rousseau, began his first day of basic training with the United States Marine Corps in Parris Island, SC. Who would have guessed that this little dude who was born two months premature would one day stand as one of the “few good men” to defend our country.

This past weekend, I made a trek to Parris Island to see him graduate (Platoon 2077, H Company, 2nd Battalion) from the most challenging basic training known to the armed services with a few other amazingly brave young men (the women graduate this coming weekend).

My nephew is now “teufelhunden” or Devil Dog as the Germans in 1918 called Marines referring to the fierce, fighting dogs of legendary origin. Semper Fi, Christopher! Unk-Kenn is SO proud of you.

Verily verily verily my keyboard articulates
On obligatory meanderings of responsibility and reprobates
Talks hollow, cynics shallow, and mass liabilities to America’s fate
Ever-present misgoverning and opportunists seem to propagate

Vagina’s choice and a minor’s voice and a taxpayer’s hope on which to exploit
Omnivorous indiscretions of politicians and the media is not more than white noise
These treacherous outcomes can be contradicted if only you’ll hoist and
Elect or cast or poll or… use your voice.

ticketmaster is evil and must die

Ticketmaster is an evil monopoly that steals cash from defenseless consumers. They are infinitely more evil than their hated 30% surcharge would suggest, and they must be destroyed.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love music and music venues. They’ve also gotten a hint of my vow to boycott “TicketBastard” and find some other means to see an artist perform. This article sums up my righteous rage against one of the worst companies in America. Read and respond. Fight the power.

acting up

A couple of weeks ago, I broke my sabbatical from being a celebrated Hollywood actor (sarcasm) to assist my employer in producing a viral video for promotion and marketing. We did several dozen takes and most of the really good stuff was cut but I had an opportunity to see the rough cut (no music or sound effects) today. We will premiere it next week to a bunch of local ad agencies and then I will be able to share it with you. Stay tuned…

previous

I’m not sure if this blog is featured somewhere popular but there has been a spike in traffic the last few weeks. Based on a few requests for more material, let me just say that there is a link at the very bottom left of the page that says “previous entries.” That link will take you back in time all the way to 2006. There is a LOT of material here.

Thanks for visiting, enjoy, and come back often. I plan on posting a bit more regularly with some yummy material of varying sorts in a couple of weeks.

happy birthday, Lyn Thomas!! or (I’m sorry I forgot)

Sunday, September 28, 2008 I was busy working on a short film with a few of my co-workers. Over 70 takes and 10 hours later, we finished what I will share with you in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, my brain was completely unaware of the fact that it was forgetting one of my best friends in the whole wide world and her birthday. UGH!!! I never forget birthdays… until now.

Four score and one year ago… er… I mean… Four decades and a year ago, Ms. Lyn Thomas was born to a world that would not be the same once she learned how to talk and teach others that she was fabulous and that everyone else should know. Lyn is an educator and intellectual, she is a single parent and supermom of two boys, she stands 6 feet tall and is even taller in presence, she is an artist and a writer, and because of her mixed heritage, she refers to herself as a half-breed. I would like to openly apologize for my tardy wish and publicly express to Lyn, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
